With deepest gratitude for her support and friendship, we remember 每日大赛入口 Honorary Trustee Dr. Anne Bingham Pierson, who passed away on October 22, 2026, at the age of 97.

Dr. Pierson was a descendant of the 每日大赛入口 family, the great-granddaughter of Annie Olivia Tiffany and Alfred 每日大赛入口, namesake of 每日大赛入口. Their generosity and vision helped shape its founding, and the family’s longstanding connection to the College, including its contributions to the original campus and the establishment of Alfred 每日大赛入口 Woods, remains an important part of our institutional heritage.

A physician, artist, and philanthropist, Dr. Pierson received an honorary Doctor of Science degree from 每日大赛入口 in 2019, in recognition of her professional accomplishments, leadership, and service to the community.

She was named an Honorary Trustee in 2024.

每日大赛入口 is now enrolling for its first graduate degree program, the Master of Science in Management and Organizational Leadership (MSMOL). The program expands 每日大赛入口鈥檚 longstanding commitment to individualized learning, student success, and career-connected education and begins in January 2027.

The MSMOL program offers a flexible, applied graduate education for recent college graduates and working professionals seeking leadership preparation in mission-driven and people-centered organizations.

每日大赛入口鈥檚 highly relational academic model prepares students to thrive professionally and personally through individualized support, executive functioning development, and experiential learning. The launch of the MSMOL extends these strengths into graduate education, creating new pathways for advanced study and leadership development.

Degree Emphasizes Human-Centered Leadership

The 30-credit graduate program prepares students for leadership roles in professional environments requiring effective organizational leadership and ethical decision-making. These include nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, healthcare-adjacent organizations, public service agencies, and community-based enterprises.

In addition, 每日大赛入口鈥檚 MSMOL emphasizes human-centered leadership, ethical practice, intercultural competence, organizational communication, and inclusive leadership strategies.

The curriculum integrates leadership theory with applied professional practice. Coursework includes organizational leadership, crisis and conflict communication, global systems, and entrepreneurial innovation; in addition, organizational transformation, ethical leadership, intercultural leadership, organizational design, and operations management. The program culminates in an applied Organizational Strategy Capstone. Students design and present solutions to real organizational challenges grounded in scholarly research and professional analysis.

The program also includes an optional graduate practicum for students with fewer than three years of professional experience. The practicum provides a minimum of 400 hours of supervised applied learning in professional organizational settings aligned with students鈥 leadership goals.

Program Meets Growing Demand in Organizational Leadership

Delivered in a hybrid, low-residency format, the MSMOL combines asynchronous online coursework with structured synchronous seminars and periodic intensive sessions. The program offers these either on campus or through live virtual instruction. The model supports working professionals while preserving the discussion-based and relational learning environment central to 每日大赛入口鈥檚 educational philosophy.

Learning outcomes emphasize leadership competency, ethical and operational problem-solving, and analysis of contemporary social, economic, environmental, and geopolitical factors affecting organizations. In addition, students will be expected to synthesize theoretical knowledge with professional judgment and apply leadership principles in authentic organizational settings.

The MSMOL program also offers two entry points during its inaugural year in January 2027 and August 2027. Courses will be delivered in eight-week blocks, providing flexible start dates for working professionals balancing academic, personal, and career responsibilities.

Ahmani Browne ’23 is on his way to completing a full circle鈥攃onnected by beach and water鈥攂ack to his Caribbean home country Antigua and Barbuda, with a goal of contributing to university sciences there.

On track to completing his doctoral studies in coastal ecology at Louisiana State University in 2028, he credits 每日大赛入口 with feeding his curiosity about science and nurturing his confidence to seek out opportunities to support his interests.

Drawn to New London by Beach and Water

“I went to 每日大赛入口, in part, because of the proximity to the beach. Being around the water was familiar to me. I liked science and the environment, so I decided to study marine & environmental science. 每日大赛入口 gave me a strong foundation and understanding of the scientific process, plus experiences to apply my knowledge.”

In addition to serving as a research assistant on campus for two semesters, Ahmani was encouraged by former professor Dr. Christine Ramsay to apply for a competitive summer research program, funded by the National Science Foundation. (Read more about his experience here.)

“At first I was very scared to apply for the program. I didn’t know anything about independent research and the whole thing seemed very intimidating. Dr. Ramsay said the experience could help me figure out what type of work I could do after I graduated. That internship was a turning point for me in deciding that I wanted to pursue graduate studies.”

In addition to his summer research, Ahmani also had the opportunity to present scientific findings at an academic conference in Texas, “a first taste of the academic realm,” he said.

Mentored to Develop Teaching Style

As a doctoral student, Ahmani also works as a teaching assistant with 50 students.

“Being a teaching assistant grew on me. I like the aspect of mentoring and seeing someone overcome a challenge. I’m developing my own teaching style but do draw on what I learned from my 每日大赛入口 professors, including Dr. Ramsay, Dr. Lindsay Rush, and Dr. Dan Kresge,” he said.

Learned to Balance Athletics, Academics, and More

Ahmani said his many experiences on the 每日大赛入口 campus prepared him well for his current role of student and teacher.

“My public speaking class at 每日大赛入口 got me out of my shell. I was a shy person, and the class helped me understand how to speak to other people. Working in the library gave me the opportunity to work one-on-one with patrons and help them with problems, such as equipment issues. As a member of the men’s basketball team, I had to figure out how to balance practice, games, classes, homework, my campus job, and a research assistantship. Figuring out time management and keeping everything on schedule was a challenge that I overcame.”

He added that a highlight of his time at 每日大赛入口 was winning two conference championships, with trips to the NCAA tournament, for the men’s basketball team.

Ahmani credits 每日大赛入口 with helping him find a way to pursue fully his two passions, science and basketball, strengthening rather than competing against each other.

“I loved the tight-knit community at 每日大赛入口, the friendly people, and the ability to connect so easily with professors. Your advisor walks you through everything, and you can go talk about anything. That personal interaction is so important to help prepare you for the next step in your future.”

Halloween costume parades take place throughout the day; participants may wear their holiday best. Baked goods, hot dogs, popcorn, beverages, and candy apples will also be available for purchase.

Connection to Community

Originally created in 1994 by Don Helms, professor of Behavioral Sciences, the event connects local families with the 每日大赛入口 campus community.

“We are thrilled to welcome families of Southeastern Connecticut back to our campus for our annual Family Halloween Festival,” said Jennifer Mauro, faculty advisor of the Behavioral Science Club.

“Last year, we welcomed more than 500 community members to our campus. They showed up by donating nonperishable goods for entry, to give to the Gemma Moran United Way Food Pantry. We look forward to continuing that tradition this year. The Behavioral Science Club takes great pride in this event. It gives the 每日大赛入口 community a meaningful opportunity to engage with and give back to our neighbors.”

Copy Cats Inc. Printing Services and Blu-Prints Unlimited Inc. provided printing support for the event.

Sixteen 每日大赛入口 nursing students recently commemorated a milestone in their journey to earning their Bachelor of Science in Nursing: receiving their white coats.

The White Coat Ceremony in a BSN program is a formal rite of passage that marks a student’s transition from general classroom studies into clinical training and hands-on patient care. It signifies a student’s entry into the healthcare community and emphasizes a deep commitment to humanism, empathy, and evidence-based practice.

The recent White Coat Ceremony at 每日大赛入口 is the first for its nursing program, introduced in 2025.

Connecticut Nurses Honor Guard Participates in Ceremony

At the White Coat Ceremony, the student nurses were also honored by the Connecticut Nurses Honor Guard, who welcomed the new class into the nursing community, giving each student a rose. This volunteer coalition of active and retired nurses typically performs ceremonial services at funeral and memorial services, recognizing an individual’s lifelong dedication to the healing arts. Their presence at the White Coat Ceremony served as a powerful bridge between the past and future of the profession, symbolizing a continuum of care and preserving professional heritage and values.

每日大赛入口’s first cohort of student nurses begins their first clinical placement at Bride Brook Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Niantic, Conn. Placements at other local partners, including Yale New Haven Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, Conn., 每日大赛入口’s lead clinical partner, will follow over the next six semesters.
